Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 15, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how StatStory ("StatStory," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the StatStory mobile application (the "App").
StatStory is designed for parents and guardians to track their children's stats during youth sports games. The App is intended for use by adults (parents/guardians) — it is not directed at children, and children do not create their own accounts or interact with the App directly.
Information We Collect
Account information
When you create a StatStory account, we collect the information needed to set up and secure it — your email address and password, or, if you sign in with Google, the basic profile information Google provides (such as your name and email address).
Athlete and stat data you enter
StatStory lets you create profiles for your children ("athletes") and log information about them, such as their name, sport, team, and game-by-game stats. This information is entered by you, the parent or guardian — it is not collected directly from your child, and your child does not use the App or interact with us in any way.
Usage and diagnostic data
We use Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics (Google services) to understand how the App is used and to identify and fix crashes. This may include device information (such as device model and operating system version), app usage events (such as screens viewed and features used), and crash logs. This data is associated with your device and app installation, not with your child.
How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- —provide and operate the App's core features, such as syncing your athletes' stats across your devices;
- —authenticate your account and keep it secure;
- —diagnose and fix bugs and crashes;
- —understand overall usage patterns so we can improve the App;
- —communicate with you about your account or the App, when necessary.
We do not use your data to serve advertising, and we do not sell your information.
How Information Is Stored and Secured
StatStory stores your account and athlete/stat data using Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore, both Google Cloud services. Data is encrypted in transit. Google, as our service provider, may store and process data on servers located in the United States or other countries where Google operates.
Third-Party Services
StatStory relies on the following third-party services to operate:
| Service | Purpose | Provider |
|---|---|---|
| Firebase Authentication | Account creation and sign-in (including Google Sign-In) | |
| Cloud Firestore | Storing and syncing your athlete and stat data | |
| Firebase Analytics | Understanding app usage | |
| Firebase Crashlytics | Crash reporting and diagnostics |
These providers process data on our behalf and are contractually restricted from using it for their own purposes. You can review Google's privacy practices at policies.google.com/privacy.
Children's Privacy
StatStory is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. Only parents and guardians create accounts and use the App; children do not sign in, create profiles for themselves, or otherwise interact with StatStory. Any information about a child (such as a name, sport, or stats) is provided voluntarily by the parent or guardian for their own record-keeping.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information directly, please contact us using the information below so we can address it.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only:
- —with service providers who help us operate the App (see Third-Party Services above);
- —if required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of StatStory, our users, or others;
- —in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case we will notify you before your information is transferred or becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
Data Retention
We retain your account and athlete/stat data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your associated data within a reasonable time, except where we are required to retain it for legal or legitimate business purposes.
Your Choices and Rights
You can:
- —access and edit your athlete profiles and stat data at any time within the App;
- —delete individual athletes, games, or stats within the App;
- —request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at the email below.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable law (for example, the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or to object to certain processing). To exercise these rights, contact us using the information below.
International Users
If you use StatStory from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate, which may have different data protection laws than your home country.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or by other reasonable means. The "Effective date" at the top of this policy reflects when it was last updated.
